Coming into a new church for the first time can be very intimidating. You wonder: What will the atmosphere will be like? What will the service will be like? Will I stand out? What will others think about me? And you consider any number of other things that determine if this will be a one-time experience or if you will return.

As a new church, offering an atmosphere that reduces the anxiety that visitors have about what to expect at our worship service is critical to our success. If a good number of people who visit our church don't return, then we will take a very long time to reach the point where there will be enough people in our service to make visitors feel like they are entering a church service where they won't stand out or be too conspicuous. Most people who visit a church for the first time want to do so without too much fanfare. They do want to feel welcomed, but they don't want to feel like there is a spotlight shining on them.

Here's where each of you, who considers Capital City Grace your church home, can play a very BIG role in our success as a church.... It's about creating an atmosphere that makes visitors feel comfortable being there. Here's what you can do to help:
Please come to our service a few minutes EARLY, enter the theatre and TAKE A SEAT so that the theatre looks occupied.
Carrying on a friendly conversation with someone sitting near you is a good idea, too.
And saying hello to visitors is a VERY good idea. It's pretty easy, but VERY important.

Our ushers greet people as they come into the Arena Grand building and direct them to Theatre 11. Then we give them a brochure about our church and a pen. Then it's up to the atmosphere of the theatre, the worship music, the message, and the friendliness of our people to entice them to return.

Musicians Needed to form our Worship Band

Thanks so much for being a part of Capital City Grace and for making us a church that visitors want to check out and hopefully become part of, too.

Potential Volunteers: Would you want to volunteer your time by joining us on Sunday mornings to help us build this church? Attending our service and welcoming others may sound like a little thing, but it’s a BIG help to us. Please consider and pray about. Email Eric or Larry if you’re interested.

Thank you!
Larry and Eric

As a way for us to continue to pray for our young church, here is a simple list outlining the categories of prayer - one for each day of the week. A new list of "7 Ways to Pray" is published each month. Thank you for your prayers!

Monday - Pray for the Spirit of God to be at the center of your every thought, word, and activity this week.

Tuesday - Pray for the leaders of Grace Clinic, a free medical clinic at Sunshine Terrace, as they prepare for its opening in early August.

Wednesday - Pray that our Nation would begin to return to the Christian values that were at the heart of its founding.

Thursday - Pray that we would have a "full house" for Movie Nite on July 15 and that the discussion following would impact people's spiritual thinking.

Friday - Pray we would all live "on mission" lives to our neighbors, friends, and co-workers each day. Be praying for whom you can invite to a church event or Sunday morning service.

Saturday - Pray for the leaders of Capital City Grace as we seek God's vision for this church.

Sunday - Pray that our church will continue to warmly welcome visitors on Sunday mornings and God would use our worship time to bring hope to those who need it.

Jessica's room colors are pale blue, gray and black. She receives a small stipend amount to furnish her room, but any help we can provide will make a BIG difference. Katie suggested that we can visit our local Volunteers of America store - Goodwill is another great one. Of course it's garage sale season, so some good deals might be found there too.

Kitchen
Dishes for meals, serving
spatulas
Glasses - large
Cleaning Rags

Bathroom / Bedroom
Full size sheets (color: black)
2 pillows
2 pillow pillow protectors - cloth
Full size mattress pads
Papasan Chair (needs cushion)
Table and floor lamps for bedroom/main room
Wall tapestry (to block out light/provide privacy)
Computer stand
DVD player
Any small, spare furniture

If you have any spare items that may pertain to her needs it would be of great help - but please don't feel obligated to do so, either. Email Katie back with anything you might be able to provide and I'll send out email updates to everyone. Please bring any items you want to donate to church this Sunday!

THANKS EVERYONE!
